More Information

Within esthetics technology, you help people improve skin conditions and get healthy, glowing skin. You care for the skin of the face and body. Sometimes called aestheticians or skin care specialists, estheticians undergo training in both high-tech and low-tech ways of cleansing and rejuvenating skin. As an esthetician, you listen to your client’s needs and perform the services that will handle skin conditions or produce the desired look. Your job will also involve handling disinfection and sanitation duties, working around harsh chemicals, and standing for long periods of time.

The Esthetics Technology program will provide students with hands-on experience in the art of skin care, including electrical facials, basic facials, hair removal, and many custom facial principles. Students learn about general health and wellness, cosmetics, and basic dermatology, chemistry and anatomy.

Graduates should be prepared to take the North Carolina Cosmetology State Board Licensing Exam and upon passing be licensed and qualify for employment in beauty and cosmetic and skin care salons, as a platform artist, and in related businesses.
